AMOS SAMUEL CLINE
Amos Samuel Cline, 74, of Harrisonburg, died Sunday, May 27, 2007, at Avante Nursing Home. Mr. Cline was born Aug. 27, 1932, in Rockingham County, and was a son of the late DeWitt and Nora Showalter Cline. He graduated from Mount Clinton High School. He was an oil truck driver and later a night watchman for the Wampler Poultry Plant in Hinton. He was a member of Mount Clinton United Methodist Church. Survivors include two sisters, Dale Shiflet and Margaret Ritchie, both of Dayton; four brothers, Marion Cline of Dayton, Stanley Cline of Lynchburg, and Richard Cline and Frank Cline, both of Harrisonburg, and a number of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. The Rev. Ken DeWitt will conduct the funeral 2 p.m. Thursday at the McMullen Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. Burial will follow at Mount Horeb Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

ARVETTA F. CLINE
Arvetta Virginia (Flory) Cline, 86, wife of Joseph Isaac Cline of 1420 Battlefield Road, Grottoes, died at 10:30 a.m. Monday (Dec. 29, 2003) at her residence. She was born Nov. 7, 1917, in Augusta County, a daughter of the late Wade Garfield and Sallie Catherine (Myers) Flory. Mrs. Cline was a homemaker and loved working in her garden. She was a member of Shendun Garden Club. Family members, in addition to her husband of 67 years, to whom she was married on May 2, 1936, include a daughter-in-law, Barbara Cline; son and daughter-in-law, John A. and Karen S. Cline of Piedmont; a daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Delano Ray Eavey of Piedmont; five grandchildren, Deanne Koiner, Daniel Wade Eavey, Mark A. Cline, Joseph I. Cline III Ph.D., and Karen M. Waldman; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Joseph I. Cline Jr.; two brothers, Lee and Edward Flory; and three sisters, Cleta Kirby, Mabel Shomo and Minnie Driver. A private graveside service will be conducted at Middle River Church of the Brethren Cemetery. There will be no public visitation. Henry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangement.

DALE CLINE SHIFLET
DAYTON- Dale Cline Shiflet, 89, of Clover Hill, Va., died Saturday, April 26, 2008, at her son's home. She had been residing there since November 2007. Mrs. Shiflet was born Jan. 17, 1919, in the Mount Clinton area and was the daughter of the late Dewitt T. and Nora Showalter Cline. She had fond memories of growing up with brothers, sisters, Mama and Papa. She was always proud that all of them graduated from Mount Clinton High School because that was a wish of her father, prior to his death at age 49, that the family stay together and all graduate high school. She would talk about the fun a family of 12 had growing up on the farm in Mount Clinton. She was a homemaker and she and her husband of 60 years were very active in the Clover Hill United Methodist Church, the 4-H Club and The Clover Hill Bucks. On June 14, 1941, she married Gordon Shiflet, who preceded her in death on Jan. 25, 2003. Surviving are a son, Robert "Bob" Shiflet of Clover Hill and wife, Pat Good Shiflet; four brothers, Marion Cline and wife, Brownie, Clover Hill; Stanley Cline and wife, Martha, Lynchburg; Richard Cline and wife, Carolyn, Harrisonburg; Frank Cline and wife, Anna Lee, Harrisonburg; one sister, Margaret Ritchie and husband, Olin, Dayton; and 20 nieces and nephews. Three grandchildren and their spouses, whom she dearly loved, Whitney Stover and husband, Chad, Clay Shiflet and wife, Brittni, Ashley Shiflet, all of Clover Hill. Mrs. Shiflet was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister, Amos and Andy Cline, Bill Cline and Fannie Jane Myers. The Revs. Rob Hoskins and Lewis Armentrout will conduct a funeral service Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Clover Hill United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Clover Hill Fire and Rescue, 2100 Clover Hill Road, Dayton, VA 22821. Arrangements are by McMullen Funeral Home, Harrisonburg.

ELSIE MAY CLINE MOORE
WAYNESBORO -- Elsie May (Cline) Moore died Tuesday (Oct. 26, 2004) at her son's residence. She was born May 25, 1925, at Butler, Pa., to William Edward and Rosa (Shifflett) Cline. She retired from the former District Home of Waynesboro. Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Samuel Franklin Moore; a daughter, Darlene Moore; a son, Franklin L. Dudley; and a stepson, Johnny Moore. Survivors include four daughters, Nancy Ulrich of Florence, Ala., Carol Johnson of Waynesboro, Patsy Powers of Baltimore, Md., and Eva Sherman of Waynesboro; four sons, Lawrence Ray Dudley, William Howard Moore and Paul and Gary Wayne Moore, all of Waynesboro, a stepson, Samuel Moore Jr.; and a sister, Hazel Shifflett of Pottstown, Pa. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Reynolds Funeral Home, Waynesboro. Burial will be at Augusta Memorial Park. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

GALEN D. CLINE
Galen D. "Bill" Cline, 76, of 1747-A Buttonwood Court, Harrisonburg, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, where he had been a patient since Wednesday. Mr. Cline was born July 16, 1928, in Rockingham County, and was a son of the late Dewitt and Nora Showalter Cline. He moved to Manchester, Pa. in 1966, where he lived until returning to Harrisonburg in March. He drove a school bus for the Central York School District and was an agent for Nationwide Insurance. He sang with the Churchmen Quartet locally and the Versetones Quartet in Pennsylvania. Mr. Cline was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Pennsylvania, where he sang in the Chancel Choir. He was currently a member of the Clover Hill United Methodist Church. On Oct. 15, 1950, he married the former Fern Hess, who survives. He is also survived by two sisters, Dale Shiflet and Margaret Ritchie, both of Dayton; five brothers, Marion Cline and Amos Cline, both of Dayton; Stanley Cline of Lynchburg, and Richard Cline and Frank Cline, both of Harrisonburg; and a number of nieces and nephews. The Revs. Rob Hoskins and Robert Pickering will conduct the funeral 2:30 p.m. Monday at the McMullen Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. Burial will follow at Mount Horeb Cemetery in Hinton. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. JOSEPH ISAAC CLINE, SR.
Joseph Isaac Cline Sr., 94, widower of Arvetta Virginia (Flory) Cline, of 24 Cline River Road, Grottoes, died Friday morning (Feb. 17, 2006) at his residence. He was born March 10, 1911, in Augusta County, the son of Daniel Christian and Ida Frances (Long) Cline. Mr. Cline established Breezy Knoll Farm, where he was the owner/operator. In addition to his wife, who died Dec. 29, 2003, and his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Joseph I. Cline Jr., and a great-granddaughter, Amy Eavey. Family members include a son and daughter-in-law, John A. and Karen S. Cline; a daughter and son-in-law, Becky and DeRay Eavey, all of Grottoes; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Cline of Madison, Ohio; a very close niece and nephew, Josephine Shiflett and Charles M. Cline; five grandchildren, Deanne Koiner, Daniel Wade Eavey, Mark A. Cline, Ph.D., Joseph I. Cline III, Ph.D., and Karen M. Waldman; and five great-grandchildren, Isaac Eavey, Alex Koiner, Sara Eavey, Luke Waldman, and Tommy Waldman. A private graveside service was conducted in the Middle River Church of the Brethren Church Cemetery by the Rev. Curtis Coffman and Joseph I. Cline III, Ph. D. There was no public visitation or viewing. Henry Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

RAY CLINE SHIFFLETT
Ray Cline Shifflett "Sponey" passed away Friday, May 20, 2005, at the University of Virginia Medical Center. He was born in Charlottesville on August 7, 1939, a son of the late Herman Shifflett. He is survived by his mother, Alice Shifflett; and his sister, Katherine Shifflett of Stanardsville. Interment was private. Ryan Funeral Home, Quinque, is in charge of arrangements.
