Dear Va and Cecil

I will answer your letter I got yesterday and was glad to hear from you I am well and hope you are the same.

We are having cold rain down here to day.  I just got through writing Mama a letter.  I got a letter from mama and she said that Mrs. Via wanted to live with them when they move over at Proffits Place.  I don't know wheather they go let her live with them or not.  I got a letter from Roby and he said that Junior Garrison bought that car that Lacy Mundy use to own I bet they will break thier neck before long.  Mama said they was going to move this fall.  If you can find a cheap Fountain and pencil you can buy it for me.  Don't pay much for it if you can't get a cheap one don't bother about it.  This pin I am using now is a nother boys Fountain pin.

I guess it is getting pretty cold up there now.  Have any body ever moved up stairs where Mr. Falye use to live.  Have you all been down Virginia lately.  Mama said that Uncle Sam was up home the other day and eat diner.  I think Leo and Chester come up and got Mama and took her down to Afercia Herrens.

We went on a 15 miles hike Friday We had a pack to carry that weights about 70 lbs and a Rifle weights 10 lbs.  Boy I sure was tired when I got back to camp.  We had a lots of fun we practic a air raid we was walking along the road and all at once a airplain came down and almost touched the grown we had to ran off the road and get under some bushes and then we would get back on the road and go marching along and all at once it would come back we would jump in to ditches and lay down on the ground.  they would drop flour on us for bombs, it sure was fun.  I wish you could see how many boys falls out on them hikes a albomance follows behind us all the time to pick up the sick ones.  Don't as many falls out since it has turned cooler we have to talk salt tablets every day to keep salt in our body because we sweat so much bit it is cold now.

I don't know why it is so cold we ant but 200 Miles from Florida.  We are at the lower end of Georgia.  We came through Altantic Georgia when we left Camp Lee.  Atlantia Ga. is 100 miles from here I could go there on a week end pass.  It sure is a pretty place.  Macon is a nother pretty place it is Just 7 miles from camp I have been down tere a lot well since news is scarce I will close By By
